Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Bataan Death March Hike to Remember - Lake Park, Georgia

On April 9, 2022, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office (Georgia) hosted a tribute march to the American and Filipino Forces that were forced to march more than 60 miles in the Philippine jungle during World War II. The proceeds from the tribute march will benefit the Rotary Club of Valdosta Georgia, specifically to the fund which aids Public Safety Officers and their families in times of need.

The event was part of Sheriff Ashley Paulk‘s community policing program and directed by Lieutenant Rob Picotti. Hikers came out across South Georgia/North Florida to include representatives from public safety, Moody Air Force Base, and citizens of South Georgia/North Florida. Well over 100 hikers wearing rucksacks/backpacks participated during the 26.2 mile hike.
