Lower Burro Mesa Pour Off Canyon, Big Bend National Park - Texas
Updated: May 26, 2021
After we camped at Basecamp Terlingua and hiked the outer trails of BBNP, I joined up with a Naturalist Journeys birding tour.
One of my favorite hikes with this excellent professionally guided tour group was the Lower Burro Mesa Pour Off trail, about 2 miles round trip. We hiked early enough that the canyon, with its ubiquitous Canyon Wrens, stayed cool in the shadows.
My cell phone captured these images, I don’t have a good camera suitable for bird photos. Such a beautiful canyon, and the blooming cactus flowers were the proverbial “icing on the cake.”
We discovered that lizards will chase a laser pointer like a cat!
