Dobell Prettified Wood Ranch - Holbrook, Arizona
Updated: Oct 12
Just about 10 minutes outside of Petrified National Park is the Rhonda Dobell’s Petrified Wood Ranch.
Petrified wood, also known as petrified tree, meaning 'rock' or 'stone'; literally wood turned into stone, is the name given to a special type of fossilized wood, the fossilized remains of terrestrial vegetation. Petrifaction is the result of a tree or tree-like plants having been replaced by stone via a mineralization process that often includes permineralization and replacement. Petrified wood age ranges from 20-300 million years old.
We have visited Rhonda’s ranch twice and she has the best prices in Arizona for petrified wood. The wood is excavated from her 50 acre family lot of property. She allows you to collect any petrified wood you find and charges very reasonable prices per bucket which she has on-site. You actually can buy a bucket of quality petrified wood from her ranch for the price (or less) of one piece from the national park or stores around the park. Rhonda also will ship it for you.
